Change That “Poopy” Diaper!

Baby JAs many of you know I have a 5 month old bright eyed baby boy named Jayden! He is our 3rd child, we also have a 9 and a 6 year old as well. Like most babies Jayden has a great temperament until he has a need….Whoa boy then the atmosphere in the Barlow home changes!! He gets upset until his particular need is met… Most of the time it is because of a dirty diaper. Wow, Ill tell you what I’m not sure if he secretly eats eggs or what, but his diapers can get S.T.I.N.K.Y!  However, the stink is not going to keep me from taking care of my child’s needs!  Which in this case, is changing his diaper and making him clean again. Sometimes we as people of God get ourselves in stinky situations and make a mess of things…. And we think just because it is a situation that stinks, we can not move forward in God or our calling.

Here is the solution:

Go to God and ask for forgiveness, and He will ‘change your diaper‘ and give you a fresh start. You see with God, He not only will change your diaper and make you clean again…He will forget that it was ever dirty in the first place! So go ahead and move forward, forget that mistake, you’re human! You can still walk in the divine calling that God has on your life!

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,  I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14

Church planting wife (I love this)

I do not pastor the church.
I watch the back of the one who does.
I do not make the decisions.
I pray for the wisdom of the ones who do.

I do not play the piano or run the nursery. I keep my hands free so I can help out wherever I might be needed on a Sunday morning. And I do serve in the areas where I am truly passionate.

I come to church ready to be on my hands and knees either loving on a snotty, crying child or sweeping up donuts crumbs and spilled coffee from the school cafeteria floor.

I do not get jealous when other women need my husband’s counsel. But, I do keep a very close tab on every situation. I talk with my husband about boundaries and guidelines that will help to protect our marriage and he allows me to check up on him and ask him tough questions

I do date my husband every single week. I do not let conversation turn towards church affairs during our date night (at least not very often).

I do run our home. I am a traveling mom with a mini van. And I do everything that I can to make our home a place of refuge for our family and not a place of stress.

I do help to keep my husband well balanced. I try to make sure that he is always making time for the family and time for himself in the middle of the whirlwind of all God has called him to be.

I will open my house up to new families and friends. It is not always the most comfortable thing for me to do. I don’t allow myself to feel guilty for that. I am an introvert by nature and the party is my most uncomfortable place to be. But I push myself to step out of my comfort zone more and more.

There are many more things that I do as a church planting wife. I plan and schedule and rearrange my schedule. I wear the big MOM hat 24/7. I give and take and mentor and remain flexible. I smile. I cry. I celebrate and admittedly sometimes I complain. I get tired. I laugh. I scream. I nurture the deep relationship with at least one godly lady who is not at all a part of our church. For I always end up needing a caring voice on the other end of the phone. And I watch in amazement at what God is doing.

But most of all, I take time to curl up in the lap of the Father as often as I possibly can. I believe this alone is the #1 role of the church planting wife. Forget all of the other do’s and don’ts. If I fail to do the #1 thing. . .I drown. And believe me, drowning in the middle of starting a church is never where you want to be.

No doubt your hats will be different from mine. God’s story for your journey will look quite different in many ways. Embrace the uniqueness of where and what God has called you to do. Discover the place where you can meet with God and all of the rest of the world can melt away. Then make sure that you join him there regularly. That would be my heart’s wish for you as you begin the adventure.

Don’t just settle for being a church planter’s wife. God has called you very specifically and he has plans for you in your church plant. He needs you. I hope you’ll embrace that call and make the most of the journey.

Pride comes before destruction

Crying is not a sign of weakness, it was once quoted that Real Men Cry. That also applies to women. Everyone has their moments of alone time when they are their true selves and cry and ask why. But put on a mask when they are around others..Mask of Strength, Mask of Pride, Mask of Self Confidence, Mark of Prosperity, Mask of I have it all together!. But it is just a mask..Instead of turning to God and casting their cares on him they turn to the world…Covering up hurt with a temporary fix like alcohol, drugs, fornication and all types of immorality. So yes, the easy way out..but it does not last because as soon as it wears off they are back to their torn reality. Reality of being lost, not fitting in but using a mask to cover up who they really are. It does not not mean people do not believe in God because they more than likely do..They are just rejecting Him. Rejecting His Love, His Grace, His Peace, His Salvation. Simply because they do not want to be vulnerable and reveal who they really are how they really feel…PRIDE comes before destruction…That is what it sums up to.

Need to be financially free?

God is AbleHaving financial difficulties? What if I told you I have the answer?!?! I will answer with a question. Have you been paying your tithes and offering to your home church? The bible says in Malachi 3:8-10: Will a man rob or defraud God? Yet you rob and defraud Me. But you say, “In what way do we rob or defraud You?” You have withheld your tithes and offerings. When we do not pay our tithes and offering we are ROBBING God. Yes, stealing. All that we have is His. He is only asking for 10% of it to be sown into His kingdom.
But you ask how can I become Financially free? I am getting there! Though we do not pay tithes and offering only for reason of we will get blessing, that happens to be one of the perks…the bible says in Luke 6:38: Give and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will they pour into (the pouch formed by) the bosom (of your robe and used as a bag.) For with the measure you deal out (with the measure you use when you confer benefits on others), it will be measured back to you. So when you give you will get in return.
Quick story:
When me and my husband moved out here it took Him 4 months to find a job. You may be thinking that is not a big deal..But it is a big deal when you picked up to move to a diffrent city, We still had BILLS to pay. The did not vanish because we moved. Car, Insurance, CC, etc. We were living with my grandparents. Our savings was draining quick. But we did not doubt God, I did not say it was easy. I said we did not doubt God. We set out to start our new church sowing into the church and through a lifestyle of paying tithes and offering God did not forget us. He has blessed my husband with a fantastic job that enables me to stay home (in our OWN Place) with our kids WORRY FREE!! God will stand by His word he can not lie.
So I say to you if you have tried everything else TRY GOD! See that He will honor His Word!
The bible says in Mal 3:10 (KJV) Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. So if you want blessings more than you know what to do with, Pay your tithes and offering to your home church and watch the change!!! A new Job, A promotion, a raise, a new car, that house you had your eye on! I want to hear the testimonies as they come in.
P.S. if you want to know more about the specifics about how to pay your tithes and offering talk to your pastor. Need a pastor and in the San Diego Area, please feel free to contact my husband Pastor Barlow at 619-616-4798 and he will be happy to explain it to you!
Love you all!

Praise God In the Fire

Thank you God for meeting my…Thank you God for answering my…Thank you God for providing me with…Thank you God for doing… These are all praises we give to God after He meets our need. These are powerful statement the give direct recognition to God recognizing He is the answer to all of or prayers and our provider. It is easy to follow God when and trust in Him know our prayers are answered or you see the path them being answered. But to praise and trust God while you are in the fire is another thing. It is another type of trusting God. You have nothing! Not a dime to your name after you pay rent, car is 3 months behind, you have not paid any of your past due bills. You are getting hounded by collector’s trying to collect money you do not have. Your car has been repossessed and your children are wearing clothes and shoes that are to small for them, but you can not do anything about it because you have nothing. You are in the FIRE, and it is hot and it is uncomfortable and there seems to be not way out. A downward spiral getting closer to the bottom. You are doing everything you can, praying, working extra hours, and rattling your brain to try to figure a way out. But you just keep digging deeper and deeper. Do you trust Him? I cant see a way out of this pit…Do you trust Him? You just put every extra bit of money in the offering at a church conference, but you still have nothing..Do you trust Him? The bible says “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” – Phil 4:19. So praise Him in the Fire, God may not come when you want Him to but He will be there right on time meeting ALL of your needs. He does not say how or when He will meet the needs but He will meet them. We need to be encouraged and trust God in our tribulation; “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 Jesus has been there done that, He knows first hand what we are going through so we are not alone. Now is not the time to be stressed and depressed in your fire, in your storm. Now is the time to praise Him in advance. God is good and He has our best interest in mind In our weakness God is made strong. ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10 He is there even when we don’t think He is. Trust in Him During the Test, Trust Him in the Fire. In the fire it is smokey and hard to see through the thick clouds. But Faith is the substance of things Hoped for the evidence of things not seen. So if all you can see is disaster, Trust God. Praise Him and know He will make a way out of no way!
